“Charlie” graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from York University, Glendon College, Toronto in 1993, and thenspent two years at the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) at Ryerson University, graduating with a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation. In 1996, he participated in a Study Program at Bank J. Vontobel, Zurich, Switzerland and Salzburg, Austria, followed by two years’ study at the Institute of Canadian Bankers in Toronto, graduating with a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) designation. From 1999-2001, he was enrolled in the Executive Masters of Business Administration Program at Queen’s University, graduating with his MBA in May 2001.

Besides his university training, Charlie has developed professionally through business, first owning and operating his own car care company 1988-89, serving as an Executive Assistant at DEPAG Deposit Agency of Canada Inc., a financial services company, 1990-1993, and as General Manager Federation of Export Clubs of Canada from 1993-present. From 1994-2003, he was the Manager of A. Bartello Enterprises Ltd., a land development firm and landlord. Since 1996, he has been Vice President of DEPAG Deposit Agency of Canada Inc.

However, his primary focus has been teaching, first a course on Global Entrepreneurship for the Forum for International Trade Training at Carleton University in 1998, followed by multiple courses at Ryerson University from 2001-present, as well as at the University of Guelph and Humber College from 2004-present. He has taught courses on Introduction to Business and Management, Marketing Research, Business Policy, and Bank Compliance, as well as courses on International Trade, Trade Law, Trade Research, Marketing and Logistics.

Charlie’s love for teaching has extended to his extracurricular activities where he has coached baseball and hockey over many years from the Minor Pee Wee to the Midget AAA levels. He served on the Conseil des Organismes Francophones du Toronto Metropolitain from 1994-1995, as a Member of the Program Development Team, CITP designation in 1997, as a Team Member of the ShareLife Corporate Campaign from 1997-2004, and, since 1998, as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT), Ottawa. He was a Member of FITT’s Accreditation Committee from 1998-2004, and has been a Member of the Executive Committee and Treasurer since 2001. Charlie is also a Member of the Albany Club of Toronto, the Central Ontario Export Club, and the Canada-Romania Business Council.
